Apocalypse is a wooden coaster near the back of the park in Cyclone Bay. Originally named Terminator Salvation: The Ride, Apocalypse opened in 2009. Terminator Salvation: The Ride included fire, mist, and on-board audio. Due to audio troubles, in late Spring 2010 the audio was removed. But currently both the fire and mist are still operating today. While waiting in line, there are three pre-show rooms where guests watch three videos about the theme of the ride before proceeding to the station and boarding. In late 2010, Six Flags Magic Mountain had to rebrand Terminator Salvation: The Ride due to a contract that was not renewed. The park had only a few weeks to shoot new pre-show videos, rename the ride, and change the theming. In January 2011, the ride became known as Apocalypse, where riders are sent to a post-apocalyptic world to fight the Scavengers.
In my opinion, Apocalypse is one of my top 7 coasters at SFMM. It is a must-ride if the wait is under an hour.
