On Sunday, a woman visited Magic Mountain with her Pomeranian in her car. She would have taken it into the park if her carrying bag hadn't ripped open. So she left the dog in the car with water while she visited the park. Security found the dog and put it in the kennel. When refilling the dog's water, an employee left the kennel door open and the dog ran out and away. The dog hasn't been found. Here is a video clip of the story: The full article can be found here: http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2011/09/12/woman-upset-with-six-flags-security-for-rescuing-dog-from-hot-car-and-then-losing-it/ What do you think about this? On September 2nd, Six Flags Magic Mountain announced that the countdown is on for the removal of Deja Vu. Deja Vu will be relocated to Six Flags New England in 2012, where it will be renamed Goliath. It has not been announced when the last day to ride Deja Vu is, but we will update you when we know.
Deja Vu was one of our favorite coasters at SFMM, but it suffered a lot of downtime. Usually it would be down every off-season for annual maintenance, so you could only ride it it late Spring and Summer. Vekoma's Giant Inverted Boomerang design (Deja Vu) had many flaw and many modifications had to be made to open the attraction. It was becoming very expensive to maintain, and this is why Six Flags will never purchase a coaster from Vekoma again. What did you think about Deja Vu? Do you want it to go? Comment on this post and let us know. On Thursday, September 1st, Six Flags Magic Mountain announced Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom via the GoBigCam. It is going to be the tallest and fastest drop tower in the world. Manufactured by Intamin, this tower will be mounted on both sides of Superman: Escape From Krypton. Riders will be pulled up slowly to about 400 feet in the air. Then, there will be a short pause at the top. After that, riders drop at speeds of up to 85 miles per hour back to the loading station. This five second long freefall may be the scariest ride at the park. This will also offer a whole different view of Superman: Escape From Krypton. Lex Luthor is expected to open in Spring 2012, and Mountain Geek will be here with complete construction and opening coverage. Here is what the new ride will look like: Finally, to close with two YouTube videos, the first of the announcement of Lex Luthor and the other of the GoBigCam announcement: |
